Carbon Cleaning - Hidden Benefits

An engine carbon cleaning has a number of advantages for vehicles with combustion engines. A soot cleaning can remove deposits from areas of the engine that other methods cannot reach. These include the combustion chambers, exhaust ducts, catalytic converters, lambda probes, intake valves, fuel injectors and fuel pressure regulators. As a source for the hydrogen, we use highly purified water obtained by electrolysis. This is then introduced into the car's intake system - after the air filter.The engine is then idled for 10 minutes to allow the hydrogen molecules to activate the carbon deposits and reduce their adhesion to the internal surfaces of the engine. Then a 2 to 3 minute run at approximately 2500 - 3000 rpm is performed to burn and remove these deposits. The process is then repeated 2 more times. This will significantly reduce the amount of carbon clogging your vehicle's intake system, cylinder heads and exhaust valves. The benefits of carbon cleaning are a smoother and quieter running engine that has less internal resistance. This results in better fuel economy and faster response times at low throttle settings, as the engine is not working against so much internal resistance. Electronic Systems Health Checks - why its worth doing before your next service

Modern vehicles are no longer simply mechanical in nature. They possess upwards of 20 different computer modules all connected to a central network. To put it in simple terms, your car is more of a computer on wheels than a form of transport these days. A modern Mercedes Benz or BMW for example, has over 50 individual micro controller units (MCU) and they control various functions as simple as the speed at which a window opens or how long the headlights will illuminate when you press the remote button to enter the vehicle. However some systems have more serious tasks, such as Anti Skid Braking systems, traction control systems, radar systems, active cruise control or - at the extreme end of importance - your passive safety systems like the Airbag management module. Like your Windows or Mac computer - over time these systems can get bogged down, run poorly and contain errors that impede their performance. Why would you care? Heres an example of how a simple loss of calibration of a steering angle sensor could lead to an avoidable loss of life. In almost all modern cars there is a steering angle sensor, this sensor determines the rate and angle of turn on the steering wheel and relays that information to the ABS, traction control and airbag system modules. In combination with the engine control unit, instrument cluster control unit, on board accelerometer, yaw angle sensor and attitude sensors the car is able to obtain a picture of its operating environment. In essence it can sense whether the road is slippery, how fast you are going, what gear you are in and whether the car is about to - or is in fact already entering a corner, whether the brake peddle has been applied or whether the gas pedal has been depressed - and by how much. It can monitor how much power the engine is delivering, how much torque is going through the gearbox and the accelerometer can inform the car whether it is accelerating and compare that data with the angle and altitude sensors to fully understand what is going on. All of this information is received and results in a calculation by your ABS module and traction control module. These modules then send return signals to your motor and gearbox - and in some more modern cars with lane assistance and active steering - directly to your steering angle control module. Now imagine a wet road in an urban street - speed 50 km/h. A ball rolls out from a house on the side of the road.. followed by a child. The driver sees the ball then the child and begins to brake. At first the ball is no issue, a well trained driver will run over that ball rather than swerve - but a child - a human being is a different matter and warrants an evasive manoeuvre. With all electronic systems in good functioning health, the car will assist the driver by applying the brakes in a manner that aids steering and enhances the ability of the vehicle to avoid the child. Net result - no loss of life. With a faulty steering angle sensor or incorrectly calibrated one and poor or intermittently working ABS sensors on the wheels your car and you as the driver have a lower chance of successfully avoiding the child. This is why a full electronic system scan and health check is essential at least once a year. Just because your car is not showing a check engine lamp, doesn't mean that everything is in perfect running order. Check engine lamps illuminate when emissions systems or motor problems occur. They do not illuminate due to faulty ABS sensors or lack of steering sensor calibration. At best you might get an ABS light warning and most people seem to ignore that and keep driving until a convenient time comes to get it checked at a garage. Hyundai i30 N Performance - Best Bang for Buck in 2020 !

Hyundai's entry into the hot hatch market has gone relatively unnoticed in Europe and especially in Switzerland. This is because we enjoy better access to the best of the German manufacturers who produce some very nice cars for reasonable money. Whilst we were all focused on the latest Golf R, BMW M lite or AMG 35 / 45 S offering, Hyundai quietly introduced its i30 N Performance. You may not notice it immediately but try getting away from one on a twisty road and you quickly learn that its a very capable and quick hatch that deserves far more attention than it is currently getting. In standard form the vehicle already impresses: Engine capacity: 1998 cc Engine code: Theta II T-GDI Fuel type: Benzin Hybrid drive?: no Number of Gears: 6 Speed Manual or 7 Speed DCT Standard power: 275 PS Standard torque: 353 Nm Standard 0 to 100 km/h time: 6.1 seconds Top speed: 250 km/h They are a lot of fun in manual or DCT specifications but require a bit of work to really get the best performance from them. The engine is quite revolution happy and produces good power when properly motivated. Its not the fastest hot hatch out there but its definitely the best value for money, being offered at a 10,000 CHF or more discount over its nearest competitors. Keep in mind that this vehicle is competing with Golf GTI's, Audi S3 and BMW's M140i however any car enthusiast will laugh at the prospect of a i30 N Performance standing even the slightest of chances against the BMW. Gearbox Reprogramming – Why its becoming necessary

For more than 15 years luxury manufacturers have incorporated small transmission control units into their transmission systems to offer the ability to learn a drivers driving style and to offer changes in performance when selecting comfort, sport or individual modes. All of this is controlled by a combination of inputs from the engine control unit and transmission control unit. In combination they give vehicles the ability to adapt to their owners driving habits and offer capabilities such as improved economy or greater responsiveness. At Fastlane Tuning Schweiz – we are seeing more and more advanced transmission control systems being used. In the past the communication was essentially one way – from engine control unit to the transmission control unit. The transmission control unit (TCU) received information from the engine control unit (ECU) on throttle position, expected engine speed, calculated torque and any commands to activate the kickdown function. The TCU received this information and produced responses in accordance with its physical capabilities and programming parameters. In 95% of the cases when we increased a motors performance capabilities through direct reprogramming (Chiptuning) these changes are immediately accepted by the TCU and the vehicle performs better. Some TCU’s can be easily reprogrammed to modify their behaviour to suit the owners needs. What does transmission system optimization provide? 1. Faster gear shifts in sports mode 2. More economical driving in eco or comfort modes 3. More intelligent gear change decisions 4. Less changing of gears in normal driving conditions By reprogramming the transmission to utilize higher torque and horsepower levels after performance tuning, the vehicle is able to better utilize a stronger motor. The result is quite often transformative and we have many happy customers. For most modern cars from 2005 to 2018, gearbox optimization is an optional but not mandatory requirement to achieve the best results from your car. This is simply because of the single direction communication where TCU remains subservient to the ECU. However the latest generation of automatic and double clutch transmission systems are equipped with greater computing power and manufacturers are now designing drivetrains (the combination of engine and transmission unit) to operate as partners rather than one being commanded by the other. When TCU and ECU are working in partnership, the ECU also receives signals from the TCU about received torque, revolutions, which gear is engaged, clutch plate pressure, torque converter pressure and many other pieces of information that both computers use to optimize the cars performance. Therefore in simple terms if Fastlane Tuning Schweiz directly reprograms your ECU for more power but the TCU hasn’t been modified then the higher torque received from the motor will be interpreted as abnormal. This will be flagged as a potential fault and after a number of recurrences of this fault the TCU will send a signal to the ECU requesting it to reduce output power. It will also probably produce a check engine light and put the car into emergency mode or limp mode as it is commonly known. Therefore when ECU and TCU are working in partnership – both need to be programmed for optimal performance.
